Marriage
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman, establish between
themselves a partnership of the whole life, is by its nature ordered toward the
good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this
covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the
dignity of a sacrament.” – Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601.
Marriage Preparation
A couple wishing to marry should contact their parish priest or deacon no later
than six months prior to the anticipated date of the wedding, earlier if
possible. The purpose of this period of time is to involve the couple actively
in a process through which they appreciate their readiness to marry and the
nature of the sacrament for themselves and for the Church.
